BATSMAN Matthew Walker has signed an extension to his Kent contract until the end of the 2008 season.

The left-hander topped the county's batting stats last season scoring 1,419 runs at an average of nearly 62.

Walker said: "I'm delighted to be continuing my career with the county. I've been pleased with my performance this season and was honoured to be voted Player of the Year again by the supporters.

Chief executive Paul Millman added: "Matthew has just finished his best ever season for the club.

"He remains an integral member of our squad both on and off the field and I'm sure he will play an important role for many years to come."
