Late Kedwell goal gets Wings out of jail

KEDWELL: Scored the winner with six minutes to play

Welling United - Dorchester Town

DANNY Kedwell struck a late winner as Welling made hard work of defeating lowly Dorchester at Park View Road.

The Wings contrived to throw away a three-goal lead and were indebted to Kedwell for heading home a corner with six minutes left to secure the three points.

Welling started in positive fashion - still smarting from their first-half display at Eastbourne - and took the lead after six minutes when Steve Perkins reacted quickest after Adrian Clarke's shot was parried.

Clarke got on the scoresheet himself five minutes later and it appeared plain sailing for the home side when Kedwell struck the goal of the game - a stunning left-foot volley which went in off the far post - after 30 minutes.

But Dorchester responded six minutes before half-time when Gareth Keeping netted.

Their hopes were raised by substitute Jamie Brown scored and Justin Keeler completed the comeback within 15 minutes of the second half.

Welling somehow regrouped and got themselves out of jail when Jamie Day's deep corner was turned in by Kedwell.
