Michael Harriman has been sidelined for several weeks with an injury.

The right-back, on loan from Championship side QPR, has picked up a calf strain.

He was set to miss Gillingham’s trip to Shrewsbury anyway, having been called up to the Republic of Ireland under-21 side.

National team manager Harry McCue had called the 21-year-old up for the game in Romania on Friday night.

But he will now miss out for club and country.

Harriman missed Gillingham’s game at Crawley recently, where Charlie Lee filled in at right-back. Lee was sent off in that game as the Gills lost 3-2.

Gills striker Adam Birchall, who is currently on loan at Dartford, is also expected to be out for several weeks after pulling a hamstring.
