Ice men seeking revenge

PARRISH: says his team displayed pride and passion

THE Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey squad are after revenge in the play-off final after losing the English National Hockey Cup final 8-3 on aggregate to Sheffield Scimitars.

After last weekend’s hugely disappointing 4-0 defeat in the home leg, player-coach Kev Parrish took his team to the home of the North champions with some harsh criticism ringing in their ears.

And after the home side took the lead on Saturday, the Mos responded magnificently when Andy Smith equalised within nine seconds.

But Parrish said: "We were always facing an uphill battle because of the score from the first leg, but I’m pleased because we put in a much better performance.

"We played with pride and passion, which we did not do in the first game, but it was not quite enough as we lost again, 4-3 with AJ Smith and Pete Carey getting our other goals."

On Sunday night the Mos were due to take on the Scimitars for a third time, in the first game of the two-leg play-offs.
