HIGHER league opposition Slough Jets twice beat the Medway-based ice hockey side the Invicta Dynamos by one goal in their double header at the weekend.

On Saturday in Slough the Mos were less than two minutes away from their first Premier Cup victory of the season after goals from player coach Phil Chard, AJ Smith, Jamie Smith and Kevin Parrish.

But two late goals from Croatian forward Zoran Kosic at 58.21 and 59.50 - the last a solo effort - won it 5-4 for the home side.

The following evening, at the Gillingham Ice Bowl, the Jets edged it 4-3 with Kosic (3+1) once again a thorn in the Mos’ side. Peter Carey, Paul Hume and Kevin Lake got the goals for the home side.

Chard said: “It was very disappointing in the first game because we choked and basically lost to one guy. We had contained Kosic all game, but just watched him win it for them in the last two minutes.

“At our place we once again played very well, but lost discipline for brief periods and were once again punished.”

Netminder Carl Ambler excelled in both games, picking up both player-of-the-match awards.
