Harewood hat-trick destroys Gills

Nottm Forest 4 Gillingham 1

GILLINGHAM slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season as they were shattered by a Marlon Harewood hat-trick on Wednesday night at the City Ground.

Injury-hit Gills fell behind as early as the fourth minute when Harewood opened his account from close range.

Gillingham player-manager Andy Hessenthaler levelled in the sixth minute from an excellent cross from Forest old boy Chris Hope.

Guy Ipoua missed three clear-cut chances for Gillingham before Harewood restored Forest's lead from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after Roland Edge had tripped him.

David Johnson made it 3-1 in the 39th minute before Harewood completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute.
