Gills must play transfer waiting game

JEPSON: "Things will happen towards the latter end of the month"

GILLINGHAM fans expecting a flurry of transfer activity at Priestfield may have to be patient during the current transfer window.

Manager Ronnie Jepson has expressed his desire to add to his squad, but with little cash to spend on new players, he admits any changes could take a while.

Jepson said: "Things will happen towards the latter end of the month and people like ourselves will have to wait and see what’s about."

A goalkeeper remains a priority for the Gills boss, to provide competition for Kelvin Jack, and Jepson is likely to hold talks with Luton manager Mike Newell in the coming days over the availability of Dean Brill.

The young keeper has returned to the Championship side and was on the bench during Luton’s FA Cup third round draw against QPR.

Gillingham also need extra firepower up front but a move for Swansea’s Leon Knight on a permanent deal seems unlikely.
