Gills bounce back to hammer Eastenders

Gillingham 2 West Ham 0

GILLINGHAM ended their two-game losing streak with a fantastic victory over Division 1 favourites West Ham.

After a goaless first half, Marlon King broke the deadlock with a curling 25-yard free kick.

The strike had been made possible after West Ham defender Tomas Repka argued with the referee, who brought the free kick 10 yards closer to goal.

West Ham's indiscipline cost them again with ten minutes to go, when Jermain Defoe got a red card for arguing with the linesmen.

Two minutes later Gills striker Trevor Benjamin - on loan from Leicester City - sealed the victory when his shot went in off the hapless Repka.

The victory moves Gillingham up to 12th place in the table.
