FORMER Gillingham boss Peter Taylor has been named as the new manager of Crystal Palace.

The England under-21 and Hull City manager succeeds Iain Dowie at Selhurst Park after he left last month before becoming the new manager of Charlton.

Ahead of the appointment of Dowie at The Valley, Taylor himself turned down the Addicks advances claiming he was happy at Hull.
