Gillingham 1 - Rotherham 1

GILLINGHAM had to settle for a draw in a poor game at Priestfield on Saturday (Jason Kayley writes).

Rotherham took the lead in the 12th minute when Gills failed to clear a corner and Martin McIntosh played the ball along the six-yard box for Paul Warne to slide the ball home.

Gills equalised on 22 minutes when Mark Saunders flicked on Andy Hessenthaler's corner and Rod Wallace sent a looping header over Mike Pollitt and into the net.

Gareth Farrelly hit a post and Alan Lee missed an open goal before Andy Hessenthaler had an effort cleared off the line by Richie Barker before the break.

The second half was a largely forgettable affair. Alan Lee had a shot saved before Rotherham's Guy Branston was controversially sent off for a second bookable offence.Rod Wallace blazed just wide as the game petered out.
