IN CONTENTION: Luke Varney could make his debut

Colchester v Charlton

CHARLTON manager Alan Pardew could have a wealth of riches at his disposal when he comes to select Saturday's side for the trip to Colchester after announcing that he has a fully fit squad available.

Luke Varney's Monday night hat-trick for the reserves against Southampton has thrust him into contention for his long-awaited first team debut.

Pardew looked on impressed as the club's £2.5million striker completed a 52nd-minute hat-trick before being withdrawn in the 75th minute.

Varney, who damaged ankle ligaments in a pre-season friendly against Chelsea on July 14, was playing only his second game on a long road to recovery.

Pardew said: "I've not thought about Saturday's selection. But I was pleased to see Luke get stuck in and make a number of hard tackles which was a good sign."

The Addicks are also boosted by right-back Yassin Moutaouakil's early return from injury. He was expected to be out for another three weeks after damaging ankle ligaments in the 2-1 defeat at Stoke on August 18.

Pardew added: "He's had intensive treatment at the France academy at Clairefontaine. He's a very disciplined player who's done it right and got his rewards.

"We've got seven games in three weeks so I'll need a fully fit squad."
