Yobs blind security guard with egg

A security guard may have been blinded after an egg was thrown at him.

Police have appealled for witnesses after the 46-year-old man was attacked whilst standing outside the Co-op in Cheriton High Street, just after 9.15 pm on Tuesday.

The egg was thrown from a car, striking the guard in the eye and causing the globe to perforate.

He has since had an operation on the eye but has to wait to find out if he will ever regain his sight.

He remains in hospital.

Police have said a witnesss believes the egg may have been thrown from a blue car, possibly a Renault and it may have had a loud exhaust.
