A woman was rescued from a lake deep in the east Kent countryside today.

Police and an ambulance were called to the Seaton Lakes, near the village of Ickham, outside Canterbury, at about 2.30pm after concerns about a woman in the area.

They found a woman in her 50s and pulled her out of the water.

Kent Police spokesman Jane Walker said: "She was seen by the ambulance and then taken to hospital, but she was not seriously injured or unwell."
