POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a road crash which claimed the lives of two people.

Three cars were involved in the collision on the A2070 at Brenzett, near Ashford at 11.30am on Saturday.

A red Astra, grey Ford Escort van and red Mercedes were involved in the collision. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the Astra was declared dead at the William Harvey hospital in Ashford. Police have not yet named the victims.

Four children and three adults were taken to the hospital by Kent air ambulance and three land ambulances after being cut from their cars.

Firefighters from stations at Ashford, New Romney, Lydd, Folkestone and Aldington spent two-and-a-half hours at the scene cutting victims free from the wreckage.
