Two people hurt in Strood crash

Two people were taken to hospital after a crash on Sunday afternoon.

A Ford Focus and a BMW were involved in a collision on London Road, near Strood Sports Centre at about 2pm.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The driver of the BMW along with his female passenger and two children, aged two and three, escaped unhurt.

The driver of the Ford, a man, and a female passenger, were both injured when their air bags activated.

Firefighters from Strood station were called to the scene after a suspected petrol leak.

A spokesman said: “The leak turned out to be radiator fluid so we were not needed for that but we were able to assist with first aid.

“The male and female in the rear car were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with suspected broken bones.

"We were on the scene for around half and hour and the road reopened shortly after we left.”
