Two arrested in Margate by police investigating the disappearance of Bradford man Alan Crabtree in 2000

Two people have been arrested in Margate on suspicion of the murder of a Bradford man who disappeared nearly 10 years ago.

Alan Crabtree was 41-years-old when he went missing from his home in Tong Street, Bradford, in September 2000.

He is believed to have visited an address on Alice Street, Keighley, on September 13 that year but there have been no confirmed sightings since then and a body has never been found.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team investigating Mr Crabtree's disappearance travelled to Margate yesterday where they arrested a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman.

They are being questioned by detectives and remained in custody at lunchtime today.

A police spokesman said: "It is believed that both of those arrested were living in the Bradford district at the time of Mr Crabtree's disappearance."
