Sponsors supporting the Kent Messenger's annual charity abseil have been thanked for funding the event.

Turkey Mill Events, Fremlin Walk shopping mall, Wilmoths Citroen and DSH chartered accountants and business advisers all provided funding to help cover events costs.

The abseil, at Fremlin Walk, attracted 47 participants and raised £5,500 for charities including the KM's charity of the year Guide Dogs for the Blind, Kent Walking Bus and the Heart of Kent Hospice.

The organisations were presented with thank you certificates at a photocall at Turkey Mill. Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team praised the businesses for their backing.

He said: "All four organisations were brilliant in their support and helped make this a tremendously successful event."

The KM Charity Team organises a range of adrenalin events to support good causes around the county. Events include abseil, zip wire, water walking and dragon boat races.
