A teenage girl was rescued from her bedroom window this morning after her home went up in flames.

Firefighters rushed to Black Bull Road, Folkestone, at about 8.30am to reports of a fire in a three-storey house.

The teenager was rescued from the top floor and treated by ambulance crews for smoke inhalation.

A woman and a dog managed to escape the house before firefighters arrived.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The fire is being treated as accidental, and is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in the ground floor kitchen."
