Teen to stand trial on death by dangerous driving charge

A teenage girl will stand trial later this year after denying causing the death of 16-year-old Samantha Cundall by dangerous driving.

Charlene Arnold, 19, of Lower Road, West Farleigh, entered the plea at Maidstone Crown Court today.

She is accused of causing the death of Miss Cundall, who was a passenger in her Ford Fiesta car when the tragedy happened in St Michael’s Close, Aylesford, on May 6 last year.

Judge Andrew Patience, QC, expressed strong concern that the trial would not be heard until September 28, calling the delay “appalling”.

But he added there were 600 cases waiting to be tried.

Arnold’s unconditional bail was continued.
