AN INVESTIGATION is being held into a ram-raid at the AMF bowling alley in Margate early today.

Police say a white Vauxhall Cavalier backed up to the metal-framed electric doors and reversed through them causing damage estimated at £2,000.

A police spokesman said: “The car then pulled away and a man went into the leisure centre and tried to take a large cash change machine, but without success. He then ran out and got into the waiting car, which was driven off.”

The attempted robbery happened at about 12.35am. Anyone with information is asked to contact Thanet police on 01843 231055.
