Quad bike riders head for Margate for two-day event

The fast and furious sport of quad bike racing and motor cross returns to Margate main sands this weekend for an end of season finale.

More than a hundred riders from around the UK and Europe will battle it out for supremacy on a specially-constructed track on the beach, with the promenade forming a natural viewing point for the thousands of spectators expected.

The event on Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23, is the third visit by the racers in the last two years. Race director Tony Nash from the Quad Racing Association said: “This is one of the favourite venues for our riders. The location is great and the support we receive from spectators, residents, Margate Town Partnership and Thanet council is first rate. Its one of the dates all the competitors look for when the race calendar is announced.”

On both mornings there will be a parade of quad bikes on the main promenade around 9.30am.

There will be a youth class for riders aged between 14-and 16-years-old, and a funfair and stalls included among the attractions for visitors.

The event organisers are searching for marshalls for the weekend’s races. If you are aged 16 or over, contact Tony Nash on 07774434468 to find out more.
