Pothole fuming - The Broadway, Gillingham

In the latest in our occasional series of features about Medway's black holes here are a selection of pothole pics taken last month by reader David Slater on The Broadway in Gillingham.

He writes: "I read with interest your recent article on the state of Medways roads.

"I accept to a degree that the weather may have worsened a few roads, but this road has hardly been touched for 10 years.

"Even though other nearby roads have been re-surfaced. Some in Cul-de-sacs.

"I have complained before, the most recent being about a month ago. The tactics now seem to be to send the warden around to offer a few soothing words but nothing else.

"To conclude. I think the councils method of prioritizing repairs is flawed and outdated.

"Broadway (as are many other so called minor roads in Medway) are now major rat runs to get to the main ones.

"Broadway is gritted during icy weather. Along with Featherby, and East Court Lane. They were re-surfaced recently. Broadway was not.

"There are also the on-going problems of litter, anti social behaviour, and dangerous parking. Once again. I got soothing words, but no answers.

"I think we have about 10 potholes in this road so far."

We will bring you Medway Council's response [hopefully] later today. The potholes pictured have since been filled in.
