Police probe after two die in blaze

DETECTIVES in Thanet are investigating a fire at flats in Margate which claimed the lives of two people.

The bodies were so badly burnt that police say they can't establish for certain whether they were male or female, but they think they were both male.

Firefighters discovered the bodies on the third floor of the building in Margate's Grosvenor Place.

Det Chief Inspector Dave Gutsell, who is heading the investigation, said it was a major inquiry and he was treating it as "suspicious".

Mr Gutsell appealed to anyone who was in the area between 2.15am and 2.30am on Saturday to contact the police as a matter or urgency.
