Police in fingertip search on farmland

FARM buildings were sealed off in a police operation thought to be linked to the £53m Securitas raid at Tonbridge.

Police were seen conducting fingertip searches on land between Chart Sutton and Staplehurst, on Tuesday. During the day a police helicopter was seen hovering overhead.

Ann Moore, barmaid at the nearby Lord Raglan pub, said: "On Sunday night there were lots of police cars out in the car park at about 11pm.

"On Monday morning when the landlady came back from taking her daughter to school, they were out there again."

A farm worker said he had seen a police mobile search unit plus three vans full of officers go into the site at about 10am on Tuesday.

Police would not confirm the operation is linked to the Tonbridge raid.
