People are listening to Kent's radio station kmfm for even longer, according to figures released today.

Official figures revealed the length of time people are listening to kmfm has increased by 2% on the previous quarter, while the station also picked up 4,000 new listeners in the east of the county.

The news comes as kmfm, part of the KM Group, prepares for an imminent launch on digital radio.

The station will be available on DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) within the next two weeks, giving people even more ways to listen.

A kmfm spokesman said he was delighted with the result.

He added he was confident of even more success in the future, given recent exciting changes at the station.

"The most recent figures include the period when we were broadcasting six different breakfast shows," he explained.

"Our move to one breakfast show across the county in March, hosted by Rob Wills, has given us the opportunity to give a completely fresh sound to this part of the day. If listener response so far is anything to go by then we expect to see some great results."
