Pedestrian 'critical' after collision

A 58-year-old woman suffered serious chest and leg injuries when she was struck by a car as she crossed a main road.

Police were called to Canterbury Road, at the junction of Minster Road, Westgate-on-Sea, on Monday at about 3.50pm.

They discovered the woman pedestrian had been in collision with a light-blue Toyota MR2 travelling towards Birchington.

The woman, from Birchington, who also received cuts to her body, was taken to hospital in Margate. Her condition has been described as "critical, but stable".
