Paul Farbrace feels Kent Cricket Club's improved form in the second half of the season can only help their prospects as they look to recruit during the winter.

Since the disappointing Friends Life t20 quarter-final defeat at Leicester last month, Kent have picked up back-to-back championship victories as well as winning four of their last five Clydesdale Bank 40 games.

The county have made no secret of their desire to recruit for next season, with bowlers top of their wish list, and director of cricket Farbrace (pictured) believes the performances of the last few weeks have helped strengthen their hand in what is a very competitive market place.

He refused to name any of the club’s targets but explained: “All I’ll say is that I’ve had a couple of decent meetings but I know we’re not the only team in for these players.

“But all the time we’re winning games to move ourselves up the table we become a little bit more of an attractive proposition.

“That is something that is helping our case in terms of attracting new players to the team. But it’s finance driven, it’s availability driven, and it’s the right person and the right player so there’s a lot to take into account.

"Players have got big decisions to make and they’re not going to rush into them, being our players in terms of negotiating new contracts, or players from other counties who we are trying to attract. It’s not an easy time and there aren’t too many out there so everyone is pretty much going for the same players.

“I had a meeting recently with a player and, as I was leaving another county coach was walking in to speak to him at the same hotel five minutes later. We had a chat about each other’s seasons and wished each other well. It was quite funny really.”
