Mystery of man found seriously hurt by rail lines

A man has been found beside the tracks at a Kent railway station with serious injuries.

British Transport Police is investigating the incident at Queenborough station on the Isle of Sheppey - but they say it is "unexplained" at present. He was found at 6.40am Saturday.

A spokesman said: "Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. He is a 44-year-old from Queenborough who was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

"The track was handed back to Network Rail at 9.21am and the station has now re-opened."
