Missing dog - man arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft after a spaniel went missing earlier this year.

Sadie, a cavalier King Charles spaniel, was reportedly seen being put into a car in Fountain Lane, Barming, on March 4, but after a reward was offered she was reunited with her owners.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Nick Sparkes, said: "It's quite understandable that people become attached to their pets, but there are people who prey on that emotional attachment and people should be careful when offering rewards.

At least take full details of the people you are handing money to so that if there is later a cause for concern, at least we will be able to follow it up."

A 31-year-old has been bailed to Maidstone police station until August 21, pending further inquiries.
