Gillingham were unable to clinch the League 2 title on Saturday after losing 1-0 at Cheltenham Town.

Boss Martin Allen praised the efforts of his players after the Gills came close to grabbing the point they needed to take the championship crown.

It was Allen's first visit to Whaddon Road as manager of another team, following his departure from Cheltenham in 2009. And he praised the reception he got from the club behind the scenes.
