Police are investigating after two unconnected fatal crashes on Kent's roads in a matter of hours.

In the first incident, a 21-year-old pedestrian was in a crash with a silver Audi TT which had left the A2 at the Harbledown slip road near Canterbury at around 11.45pm on Saturday.

Paramedics fought to save the man, but he died shortly afterwards.

At around 10am yesterday, police were called to a second crash outside the White Hart Pub in Claygate, Marden, near Tonbridge.

An elderly man on a bicycle was in a crash with a blue Renault Clio on Maidstone Road, close to the junction with Sheephurst Lane. The Kent Air Ambulance was called, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses to either of these incidents are asked to contact Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit on 01622 798538.
