A 50-year-old man has been charged with murder after a former doorman was shot dead in Chilham last November.

Kenneth Norman Batchelor, 50, of Hendon Cottages, Canterbury Road, Chilham, is accused of murdering Matt Clements, also known as Mad Matt or Big Foot.

Clements, 41, was from Frittenden Road, Ashford, but had also lived at Wayside Avenue, Tenterden.

His body was found on scaffolding by the Chilham Sports Car garage, Canterbury Road, on Sunday, November 18, last year.

Batchelor was due to appear before magistrates in Ashford.
