Man arrested after crash outside school

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of drink-driving after an accident outside a school in Thanet.

A 43-year-old man from Broadstairs was driving along Broadstairs Road in the town when his Mitsubishi car collided with a tree outside Dane Court Grammar School.

The emergency services were called just before 7.30am today (Friday) and the driver was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate suffering from head and neck injuries. His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

The incident, which closed the road for just over an hour, is believed to have involved only one vehicle. No-one else was injured.

The man has been bailed until Monday, June 30, pending further inquiries.
