An 83-year-old man from Ashford has died after a head-on crash.

Firefighters cut two men free from their cars on the A274 Headcorn Road in Sutton Valence, near Maidstone.

Kent Police said the 83-year-old, who has not yet been named, was flown to the Royal London Hospital with serious chest and pelvic injuries, but later died.

The other man, aged 75, was taken to Pembury’s Tunbridge Wells Hospital with injuries to his shoulder and chest.

The crash happened between New Barn Road and the High Street at around 11.30am last Thursday.
