Kent woman dies in French Alps

A Kent woman has died after a climbing accident in the French Alps.

Lydia Press, 24, of Edenbridge, was killed in a fall on the 3,800m peak Tour Ronde near Chamoix as she climbed with three others. Her boyfriend was injured in the accident.

Ms Press was a former president of the Oxford University Mountaineering Club.

An inquiry was underway into the tragedy and the Foreign Office was liaising with Ms Press's family.
