A music festival has been cancelled just days before it was due to be held.

Sellindge Music Festival had been due to take place at Hope Farm in the village this coming weekend with stars including Lee "Scratch" Perry.

But the organisers have pulled the plug on it, citing funding problems. They say that all ticket holders will get a refund.

In a statement, they said: "It has been an incredibly difficult year for events of this type and we at Sellindge hoped we had done enough to save our little corner of the festival scene.

"Unfortunately due to various circumstances it seems we are unable to proceed.

"The reason for this is a change in policy at PayPal which has resulted in a large amount of our funding being held until after the event.

"Funding that was essential to make this event run. Without that money we have no option but to cancel now to avoid disappointment on the day for you, our customers." They say they are arranging refunds.

Thanking everyone for their support, they say they hope to return next year and add: "Above all, please stay calm and be patient."

On their website the organisers say they will contact ticket holders who booked direct with them about refunds.
