Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens has been named the county's Player of the Year after fine performances with bat and ball this summer.

The 34 year-old hit four centuries this summer and is averaging more than 44 in First Class cricket.

Despite Kent's season of struggle Stevens was just 25 runs short of 1,000 for the season going into the final LV= County Championship game of the season at Yorkshire which began on Monday.

He had also picked-up 28 wickets in First Class cricket and a further 12 in T20 games, at an average of around 24.

Stevens said: "I am delighted to be named Kent player of the year. It means a lot because the members and supporters have voted for me. I would like to thank everyone for all of the backing I have received this year.”

Stevens received his award from the President of the Kent Supporters' Club, the Rev. Canon Chris Byers.
