Kent Air Ambulance has been chosen as the KentOnline Charity of The Year.

The charity, which is based in Marden near Maidstone, provides a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for everyone living, working and travelling in the county each day.

It offers a rapid response to accidents and medical emergencies with a highly-skilled doctor and critical care paramedic on board, deliveri ng treatment to the patient within minutes.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team said: "The chosen charity has been invited to a briefing session to give them details of how KentOnline and the charity team will support them throughout the year."

He added that the successful cause will receive the full backing of the website and kmfm, highlighting its work and any special fund-raising projects it undertakes during the year.

The KM Charity Team also aims to stage one or more fundraising events to support them.

Mr Dolby said: "We had a fantastic response to the Charity of the Year appeal and those charities not selected will be contacted and offered a fundraising support package."
