Kebab shop raided in terrorism inquiry

Police have been searching a kebab shop in Aylesham as part of an investigation into suspected terrorist activities in east Kent.

They were at Countryside Kebab in Cornwallis Avenue on Monday night - the same day a man was arrested in Hawkinge under the Terrorism Act 2000.

He was released without charge on Wednesday.

Two police vans were outside the kebab shop on Monday and the shutters were down.

One villager said: "My son went round there to get a burger and found it shut.

"I had a look through the shutters and you could see the police doing their work in there."

Police spokesman Jon Green added: "I can confirm that this activity is connected with the arrest of the man in Hawkinge under the Terrorism Act."

A kebab shop in Dover was also searched on Tuesday as part of the investigation.
