Gridlock on the A2 after crash that leaves man in hospital

A man was taken to hospital after a crash on the A2 at Gravesend that caused rush-hour gridlock.

The smash - which involved three cars and a van - happened at around 8.15am Wednesday at the Southfleet junction.

It caused chaos for commuters with traffic snaking back as far as Shorne. The London-bound carriageway was partially blocked.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance said a man in his 30s was the only casualty taken to nearby Darent Valley Hospital.

It is not known what injuries the man suffered.
