Gillingham will field a youthful-looking team for their Kent Senior Cup tie at Welling on Monday night.

The Gills are back in the county competition after a 13-year absence, but boss Andy Hessenthaler (pictured) will leave the first team players behind for the game at Welling's Park View Road.

Injury problems mean he won't have to gamble on a trouble-free evening in the second round match.

He said: "I can't take the risk on any more injuries because we don't have enough bodies.

"It's not being disrespectful to the Kent Senior Cup but we will have a really young team on Monday night.

"It will probably be a mix of the boys from the bench on Saturday along with pretty much all the second-year scholars.

"It is a great opportunity for the young boys and certainly for the second-year scholars for us to have a look at them as well."

Kick-off is 7.45pm with the winners away to Dover in the third round.
