Former Ajax midfielder Stanley Aborah jnr will be given the chance to impress Gillingham on Tuesday night.

Aborah is expected to take part in the pre-season friendly at Dartford as Gills go in search of their first win since manager Andy Hessenthaler’s return to Priestfield.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who has represented Belgium at under-19 level, has been playing for AS Trecin in the Slovakian Second Division.

A former Ajax youth team captain, Aborah played four first-team games for the Dutch giants and has also featured for FC Den Bosch.

"He is coming in and is supposed to be the real deal,"said Hessenthaler.

"It’s another option, you need to give these people a chance as you never know."

Former Ebbsfleet keeper Lance Cronin is expected to feature for the first time in pre-season after a thigh injury, along with ex-Brighton striker Sam Gargan and summer recruit Stefan Payne, who picked up a groin injury in training.

Hessenthaler added: "Some may play a little bit longer (than 45 minutes). But we still need to be careful.

"We’ve not been back for two weeks and we don’t want to pick up any injuries."
