Driver 'serious' after crash

A WOMAN in her 40s was seriously injured when her car was involved in a two-vehicle collision in a Kent village.

Firefighters had to cut the woman from her car which also hit a tree. The incident happened in Woodchurch Road, Shadoxhurst, near Ashford, shortly before 5pm on Wednesday.

The woman was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford. Kent Police spokeswoman Rosemary Alexander said: "She sustained serious injuries but they were not considered life-threatening."

She added that the road was closed until around 8.35pm.
