A man killed in a car crash on the A20 has been named.

Abd-El-Menem Allam, 57, of Main Road, Sellindge, died after the crash last Saturday.

Coroner’s officer David Lewis told an inquest opening this week that Mr Allem died when the car he was driving crashed at Mersham.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital where his wife, Susan Allem, identified the body.

A post mortem examination confirmed that he had died from multiple injuries.

Mr Lewis said that Mr Allam was born in Cairo, Egypt, and worked in security.

The inquest at Ashford was adjourned for a full hearing at a later date.
