Cyclist killed in crash with van

A cyclist has died in hospital after being involved in a road crash with a van.

The accident happened just before 4pm Tuesday at Bilby Corner in Mersham, near Ashford.

The victim was travelling towards the crossroads at Bliby Corner and was in collision with a silver Vauxhall Vivaro.

The 49-year-old local man was taken to the Royal London Hospital by air ambulance, where he later died from head injuries.

Kent Police’s Serious Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and the road was closed until 8.20pm.
