Watch the cow being
winched out of its shed.

Firefighters used a crane to free a dairy cow after it
became trapped in a milking shed at a farm.

Farmer Godfrey Palmer thanked the service after crews from
Ashford and Faversham arrived at Amhurst Court Farm in Bedlam Lane,
Egerton, on Tuesday morning.

According to the fire and rescue service, the cow had
fallen down the side of a gantry beneath the milking shed at about
7.30am.

The service's specialist animal rescue unit from Faversham was
called.

Lee Rose, Ashford station manager, said: "There was a lot of the
milking machinery above its head and this made it difficult for the
cow to stand up or move itself. The cow did not seem distressed but
was clearly rather shocked."

Fire crews removed part of the roof of the building and, after
moving the cow into position and attaching straps around its
body, winched it to safety using the crane.
