Cheese lovers can now enjoy a monthly dose of deliciousness delivered direct to their doorstep.
Kent-based fine foods company Macknade has created a Cheese Experience Box, which promises to send the most brie-lliant cheeses - handpicked by its skilled cheesemongers - to subscribers every few weeks.
Food and drink subscription boxes have become exceptionally popular in recent years, and particularly during the coronavirus pandemic when restaurants were shut and people were in lockdown at home, with craft gin, beer and specialist pasta amongst those to have garnered big followings.
Recipe boxes from the likes of Gousto and Hello Fresh have also been big-hits with households looking for some additional help with the responsibility of conjuring up enticing evening meals night after night.
Macknade, which has food halls in both Faversham and Ashford, says its new cheese postal service is both the ideal gift for a true foodie or a monthly treat customers could share socially with family and friends.
The subscription box will contain a minimum of four cheeses every month featuring a selection of soft, hard and blue varieties, which are made from cow, goat, sheep and buffalo milk.
Alongside that - to guarantee the very best is brought out in every selected variety - a pairing of crackers, chutneys or pickles alongside informative tasting notes will also be included. There is also the option to add a bottle of wine, for an additional £15 a month, which it is said will be 'perfectly matched' to that month's chosen cheese board.
The entire selection will then be boxed, using sustainable packaging, and delivered nationwide for free.
Subscribers will also be able to join live online cheese tasting sessions on the first Friday of every month, featuring guest appearances from knowledgeable cheese producers.
The Cheese Experience Box will explore a different theme with each delivery, say those behind the new venture, covering regions, varieties and flavours, but the contents will not be revealed until customers open their parcel on each occasion.
To subscribe, adventurous eaters need to sign-up online by the 28th of each month and the box will arrive by the first Friday of the following month. Prices start from £50.
As a rolling subscription, customers can choose to opt out at any time via a link, which is sent in welcome emails. To learn more about subscribing or to arrange a delivery click here.
