Charlie Lee wants Gillingham to put in more complete performances

Charlie Lee admits there is work to be done to get the blend right at Gillingham.

Successive clean sheets were followed by a thriller on Tuesday night at Priestfield where the Gills conceded four.

Lee (pictured) was instrumental in Gills’ fightback against Hereford but knows the mix has to be right.

He said: "We have won two on the trot and kept two clean sheets and then we’ve come out and scored five. We have to do that in the same game and piece it all together."

Lee admits he was as culpable as anyone but believed Tuesday’s performance was just a one-off.

He said: "There was some average defending from both teams. But the will-to-win for us was second to none. They are the games you want to be involved in and enjoy because they don’t come around often.

"I got caught out defensively and a couple of the other boys did as well.

"That was disappointing but in a game like that, you have to accept that you’ve dug in and shown a lot of heart and scored some good goals.

"For one goal I lost my man in the box and they scored. You have to hold you hand up but luckily I went up the other end and scored myself."
