A jogger was targeted by a van passenger in a drive-by catapult shooting.

The victim needed hospital treatment after the apparently unprovoked attack on Monday.

The 20-year-old woman was jogging in Wateringbury when a passenger in an unmarked white van wound down the window and took a potshot.

The jogger was hit just above the knee in the incident near the junction with Pizien Well Road and Tonbridge Road.

Police are now calling for any witnesses who may hold vital clues to the attack to come forward.

Sergeant Mark Ginsberg from Kent Police said: “This was an assault against a victim who was simply out exercising and causing no bother or inconvenience to anyone.

"We would be very keen to hear from anyone who saw the van in the area at the time or who witnessed the assault so we can identify the driver and passenger and speak to them about this report.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kent Police by calling 101, quoting crime reference YY/17025/12. Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
