Car crashes into four-storey house

A MAN was taken to hospital on Friday after a car crashed into a house in a Kent town.

It is thought the white Skoda Octavia crashed into the porch of the four-storey detached house in Hythe Road, Ashford, just before 4.40pm.

Fire crews, ambulance and police attended the scene. Firefighters spent more than half an hour cutting the man from the car before taking him to the William Harvye Hospital.

Part of Hythe Road was closed to traffic Ashford-bound while the rescue operation took place.

Queues stretched back to the town's ring road and towards the M20 junction 10 roundabout at Willesborough.

Structural engineers were at the scene of the crash and the road re-opened at 5.40pm.
